Congrats, if you have an AV you've basically installed a rat that is silently exfiltrating files from your system without your knowledge (basically how Kaspersky got NSA hacking tools). Have sensitive documents on your computer? If you have AV, files the AV deems suspicious (like ones that it hasn't seen before) are automatically uploaded to the cloud for further analysis. Security people tend to be brutal on antivirus vendors, but it's totally justified. I'd recommend reading up on what Tavis Ormandy (Google Project Zero security researcher) and other pros say about antivirus. Not only are its detection rates as high or higher than everything else, it doesn't hook into your system in the brutal hacky way that most (all?) third party AV does-which just ends up creating more security/stability/privacy problems than its two-bit, ex post facto, hash-based detection could ever be worth. Windows Defender is infinitely better than any third party solution. As the old Roman saying goes, "to injury you add expense". Actually worse than snake oil, because it costs you money and actually decreases your security posture. I'm a little surprised that people still think they need antivirus.
